Fuel level sender gasket - cork or rubber?

I had a rubber gasket on mine, replaced it with a cork one which is now cracked and leaking a bit. Is there any advantage to the cork gasket? Seems a bit fragile to me. I'm considering just going back to the old rubber one, though that's leaked sometimes, too, so maybe I'll just make one...

Make sure you use a fuel compatible material. Fuel will dissolve most rubbers. (Don't ask.)

Rubber is what came on mine, an '86. The tank is out of the car right now and I bought a new cork gasket for it. The original rubber one is in good shape though, so I can't decide which one to use.

Use nitrile rubber for the gasket. It is resistant to oil & gas.

Does anyone have a source for a rubber gasket for the fuel sending unit? I am only coming up with cork.
Thanks.

Thanks. After messing with it, it turns out that the gasket is fine. The clear vent tube next to the sending unit is the issue.

Anyone know where the clear tubing can be bought? And the size?

If memory serves, in the end I used a gasoline-safe gasket maker because I couldn't find a rubber one. And that was still in place when I sold the car 3 years ago with no leaks whatsoever.
