Window regulator spring question

The driver's side window regulator pivot pin broke on my 1971 911 T Targa.

I removed the regulator from the car and photographed the mechanism to aid with re-assembly. Received new pin from our host and reassembled the mechanism but I have stumbled onto a problem. I can not figure out how to correctly replace the spring.

If I put the spring in the orientation it was when removed there is zero tension against the spring catch and the the spring winds AWAY from the spring catch instead of against it. I thought about flipping the spring but every photo/video I have down shows the spring oriented the same way as I have it.

What am I missing? I feel like I am overlooking something obvious. Please show me how to make this work correctly.

Thanks in advance for all replies.

NOTE: In photos below spring is resting in approx position but not pressed into place.

I don't know if this thread helps, your car is older with manual windows: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/664473-slow-window-fix.html

You've lost the pivots check bottoms of doors, you'll have to make some they go in the round holes below the the spring. Those tabs don't hold the springs.

Every photo/video I can find of a 1970/1971 shows the catch tab holding the spring @Dpmulvan. I've only seen the metal pin through the round hole on later models. Can anyone verify?

The Pivot Pins come in two sizes and two configurations. Assuming you have the correct size, the slot for the spring can be either perpendicular or parallel with the rectangular end that goes into the regulator. I wonder if you have the wrong configuration.

You cannot buy the missing pins, you have to make them. The pivot spring pins they sell are for the center of the spring.

One on left is replacement for center, one on right is common broken pin that you cannot buyhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1529329760.jpg

You need to put regulator in window up position, then wind spring until tight, from pics looks like you need one more full turn. As window goes down it tightens spring so it will aide going up. It can be a ***** winding spring, I forget if I used vice grips or a piece of tube to hold spring.
