Has anyone installed a mechanical oil pressure on the engine?

Thanks

David

Technically no. But I did just replace my sending unit. Do a search on the procedure and remove the unit as a whole. No crow foot.

I just saw a picture of the mechanical gauge and it looks to attach just like the factory part.

Are you looking to test pressure thinking the sender/gauge are faulty or otherwise giving incorrect readings?

Not permanently, but I installed one to quickly check the electric gauge. I got a cheap mechanical gauge from Jegs, and a handful of adapters so that I could plumb it into the oil temp sender location. I believe there are some adapters that allow you to add a T for the new gauge and the existing sender. Maybe lindsey racing? You'll have to do research or measure to find the thread sizes. I've forgotten, and the fittings are in storage after selling my house.

David,

I do for my engine test stand. This gives me an idea the initial oil pressure before starting a motor specially for newly rebuild motor. I have a zero to 100 psi. but would like to replace it with zero to 80 psi. next time.

You could also use a mechanical gauge to compare your dash gauge reading.

Thanks Tony

Do you recall the thread sizes so I can go buy the fittings?

David
