WTB: Rebuilt 915

Thought I would post again. Does anyone have a lead on a rebuilt 915 by a reputable builder? I gave a 1974 targa with a 3.2 Carerra motor in it. The original trans is likely needing a rebuild and I am more interested in a plug and play unit than building the current one as numbers matching is no longer important to me. I would actually love to go G50 but that would be completely cost prohibitive.

Is your car still mechanical speedo? If so only 72-74 (and early 75) gearboxes will work for you.

probably most cost effective to just rebuild yours, and keeps the gearbox with the car it came in. it will handle the 3.2 just fine...

I would typically agree. The shop has a 915 box from an SC they will build for me and the 74 box is more desireable for someone trying to keep their 74 as a 74. I am no longer concerned with matching numbers on this car.

I can help you with this. I have a couple rebuilt and ready to go.

$5500 plus shipping, I will pay return shipping to receive the core gearbox back.

Happy to help,

fair enough, the later box is electronic speedo, '74 is mechanical. you'll need to swap that out and wire for the electro speedo if you haven't already.

a lot of guys prefer the 7:31 R&P in the earlier boxes as well depending on intended use...

I have one with a mechanical Speedo. Spins freely but it’s not rebuilt to the best of my knowledge. $2500. Came out of a 75 and seemed it was working fine when removed

If you are still looking, I can build you one, either mechanical or electric speedo. It would be a couple weeks though, I'm traveling until 11/14 or so. send me an e-mail at jerryaustin@verizon.net
