81 SC motor with Weber 40IDTs for sale

For sale is an 81 SC motor with Weber 40 IDT carburetors. The IDTs are very similar to the IDAs and were offered on the early 911 T motors. This motor has 116,807 miles on it and has never been apart. There are no oil leaks! The valve guides are good, no excessive play. It has newish collpsible return tubes and jet hot coated Bursh headers and OE style muffler. The distrubutor is off a 78 SC motor and has been modified by removing the vacuum advance and TIG welding the vac adv plate so it has only mechanical advance. The carbs have been perfectly jetted for this motor, it runs strong and has excellent throttle response. It is in a car to test drive. It goes like crazy!!!

I am asking $4500 for it, turn key, ready to run. It comes with PMO fuel inlet rails, K&N water shield air cleaners (powder painted) and a Holley adjustable fuel pressure regulator with gauge. A Holley Big Red fuel pump is also availble at no extra cost if you need it (I have it mounted in the smuggler's box up front) If you don't want the exhaust I'll take off $500. The fan and housing could use some detailing, they have surface corrosion.

Please e-mail me with any questions. Victor rsvic@pacbell.net

I forgot to mention the motor has pressure fed tensioners.

Bummer!!! I was checking the lower valve guides today and by surprise found one of the lower head studs to be broken and missing!!!! Those darn Dilavar studs! I have had this engine for over 6 years and have never noticed a problem. It does run great and the compression is good. Well, I can't ask the $$$ I wanted so my revised price is $3000 complete or take off $750 for the exhaust and/or $750 for the carbs if you don't need them. I am sure that the motor is good for many more miles but the studs will need replacing in the future. Sorry to all who have been interested in this motor, I should have done this check before placing the ad. Goes to show, a compression test is not enough.

How do you pass smog in CA? I just posted a wtb re a replacement for my 81 sc motor and your message was bumped to the top. Have you done a leakdown on the engine, if so, what are the numbers? I would be interested in the engine if numbers are good. I live in the Bay area and Yellow freight can ship relatively cheaply. I don't have interest in the carbs or exhaust as I have new exhaust on my old engine and a reworked CIS. What would you want for the longblock ? Regards, Bob Lofgren

You don't unless you install in a 75 or earlier car....

Thanks for the update. If it doesn't go through I might be interested. I need something to come through for me, if it does then I'll be a lot interested:-)

If your sale falls through I'll buy the whole package at your price and pick it up. I can pick it up between the 16th and 18th.
