Wtb: Fog Lights

I'm looking for a pair of fog lights that mount in the bumper of my '68. Thanks.

Hi David,
I'm not heavy into "authentic" so if they would fit, yes, I'd be interested.
Please get back to me with some more details.
Thanks - Jerry

fog lights

Here are the pictures I promised. Looks just like the ones still on my 79SC except for the surface flange on my front valence. One has a little surface rust around what I would think is a drain hole but its on top of the light. I do not know if the bulbs work but the housing and lens are ok.

Let me know if these will work for you.

Dave

Dave,
Many thanks for the photos. Nice looking units but I'm afraid they're not what I need. The early ones are chrome with a different shape. I don't think these would work.

Not a problem. I learn something new everyday with these cars.

Good luck.

Hi John, Thanks for the help. I'm assuming they would be the same for a '66. If so, no need to reply, but if not, I'd appreciate an update.
Thanks again - Jerry

Hi Jerry

You are correct. 128's for 356 and 911 from 1964 thru 1968. From 1969 to 1973 Hella 169(some call them 139). These are both under bumper foglights. The early 128 have a V patern on the lens the later do not, but this is not important. The 128 have a top mount, the 169(139) have a rear munting bolt. The bumpers are differnt for 1964 thru 1968 and 1969 thru 1973.

The 118 lights are the thru the grill light above the bumper.

All these light came in different US and Euro modells and amber/clear lenses and different bulb setups. The 118 also came as driving lights and fog lights.

Best
John

Hi John, Once again, my thanks. I must admit to some confusion however. I have an old steel bumper which I was told would fit '65 through '68. I also have checked Performance Products and they show a new Type 128 Light which supposedly fits but the mounting stud is pointed downward. There are two holes in my bumper bracket but one is pointed directly rearward and the other is angled down from the top. The PP light appears to mount from a hole which is not in my bumper. Any answers?
Jerry

Hi Jerry

Hmmm... thats strange. I have looked at the lights from performance products and they look like they have a bottom mounting. In the book; 911&912 a retorers guide to authenticity, the book says "in 1969 th 128 units where replaced with the 169 units, whitch where similar in apperance. The differences were in their larger size and change in mounting location.. 128s were mounted from the top of the unit, while the 169s mounted from the rear"

Maybe the back section of the PP lights can be turned 180 degrees?

best
John

You can rotate the shell on the PP Hella 128's 180 degrees as John indicates. I have one in my office, and I did just that to ensure that it works.

These are also sold by NLA in Reno Nevada, a 356 parts seller, not sure of his pricing.

Though expensive,....these lights are correct, and add a great "look" to the car.

regards,
Eric

Hi Curtis,
I haven't found anything appropriate yet so I'm happy to consider what you have. I'd appreciate a few photos and dimensions if you have the time.
Thanks - Jerry

Jerry, mine are like the ones in the photo's above, but in better shape. It looks like you are looking for the round chrome fogs that came on that year. You might try this salvage yard for exactly what you need
http://www.dcautomotive.com
If still interested let me know as I will have to go over to the paint shop where my car is to pic some pics

Thanks

Curtis

Hi Curtis, No photos showed up on my end. I'm not looking for the round ones that mount on the grills. I'd like the ones that mount in the lower part of the bumper. They are Hella 128 from the factory and replacements are available but the cheapest is $230/each. I'm hoping to find some nice used ones for less. If you have what I'm looking for, please send some photos to gjwslw@ameritech.net.
Thanks - Jerry

Hi all

Just to add to confusion/clarification the 128's are more rounded than 169/139 series and I think the difference between a 139 and 169 is the 139 was a top mount and the 169 rear (Going from a picture on the 139 box in front of me). some of the 128's around are repros
