FS: MoTeC M48 engine management package ECU+CDI+wiring

FS: MoTeC M48 engine management package -- ECU+CDI+wiring

A prior shop started this vehicle build (964 3.6L), which has now morphed into a racecar requiring more functions, channels, and datalogging than the M48 offers.

The ECU and CDI are new, never run. The custom 911 wiring harness was made and fitted to the car and finished, but removed before use.

MoTeC M48 ECU
Serial number: 3919
New price: $2,682 + shipping
Includes ignition, injection, 512k datalogging
Activated extra cost options:
- Lambda: $460
- Advanced Tuning Features: $608
Only functions not activated are Telemetry and Remote Logging.

MoTeC CDI/8
8-channel CDI with integrated multiplexer -- takes single ignition output channel from ECU and sequences it 6 coil outputs (up to 8). Autosport canon connector, CAN communication.
New price: $2,692 + shipping

Custom Wiring Harnesses
Professionally built and tested wiring harnesses by TurboKraft.
Mil-spec materials: lightweight Tefzel wire, heat & chemically resistant heat shrink tubing. Labels printed and covered with clear shrink tubing.
- Engine harness with quick-release bulkhead canon connector, serial communication port, Deutsch DTM connectors (to CDI harness, for wires to chassis under seat), and sensor connectors (MAP, TPS, Ref, Synch, AirTemp, CylHeadTemp, Lambda), plus sealed relays and fuses. ECU positioned under driver's seat.
- CDI harness with Autosport conenctor to CDI/8 unit, Deutsch DTM connectors to engine harness and 6 individual coils.
New price: over $1,800

Complete package:

ECU harness section only:

With CDI added:

Bulkhead canon connector separated:

M48 ECU options:

Time to move on. Looking for best reasonable offer.

In response to some PMs:

Sensors are not included. Engine harness is configured for the following engine sensors:

* Hall-effect flywheel sensor = Deutsch DTM 4-pin connector
It can run the stock 964/993 magnetic sensor, but MoTeC's tech people recommend switching to hall-effect sensor for a clean digital square wave signal

* Hall-effect camshaft position sensor = Deutsch DTM 4-pin connector
If you are running an original 964/993 distributor, it's a snap to make a plug-in adapter to use the distributor's built-in hall-effect sensor (we can provide at extra cost of materials)

* Injectors = Bosch 2-pin
Plugs into standard Bosch injectors.

* GM MAP sensor = orange Weatherpack connector
An OEM (non-aftermarket/eBay) MAP sensor is <$100.

* TPS = Bosch 3-pin connector (same as factory 964/993)

* AirTemp = Delphi connector
Accepts standard GM open element air temp sensor ($24)

* Cylinder Head Temp (Engine Temp) = Bosch 2-pin connector with plug-in jumper to Bosch 3-pin
2-pin is same as 3.2 Carrera CHT sensor, 3-pin connector is for updated factory 993 CHT sensor

* Idle = Bosch 2-pin
Plugs into 964 idle stabilizer motor

* Lambda = Deutsch DT 4-pin connector
Accepts any external Lambda controller, not included.
We used AEM's inline Lambda controller + sensor, $189 -- less than 1/2 the price of MoTeC's recommended 4-wire LSM-11 sensor alone (really only semi-wideband).

* Expansion = Deutsch DTM 4-pin
The unused inputs & outputs from the MoTeC ECU, already incorporated into the harness to make wiring in an additional function easy.

The CDI harness plus into the ECU harness, and has 6x Deutsch DTM 2-pin female connectors to plug into 6 coils. Any CDI-compatible coils can be used with the CDI/8.
This engine had 6x double-ended CDI coils (MoTeC p/n M CDI 551 102, $120/ea), where each wasted spark coil was for one cylinder.
Other possible single plug configurations:
6x single-ended CDI coils (MoTeC p/n M CDI 551 101, $110/ea)
or
6x CDI coil-on-plug (about $85/ea)

Prices referenced were taken right off MoTeC USA's current catalog:
MoTeC > Downloads > Catalogue
$6,442 + shipping from MoTeC, plus an $1,800 harness = $8,242 new

If you have a 964 or 993 and wish to go to a stand-alone engine management system, this is ready to go as-is. Equally appropriate for an engine with big cams, or ITBs (Individual Throttle Bodies), or converted to Turbo or Twin Turbo (example: Avi's 1991 Carrera 2 Twin Turbo 3.8L)
Adapting it to an earlier 3.2L Carrera would be simple, too.
Adapting it to a 930/C2T/3.6T is equally simple, and only requires the engine have the appropriate EFI conversion hardware (EFI Injector Blocks or Carrera manifold, sensor mounts, etc.)

Thanks for the interest!
