early sport seat cores feeler, what are they worth?

ever have a possesion that the thought of selling the item make you physically ill?? right now i have that feeling. Ive got a pr of early 72-73 sport seats cores. the covers are removed and ready for tony at autobahn to work his miracles. i also have the factory tilt mechanism. the dilema is IF i sold them either together or seperately with mounting stuff what would these be worth? headrests included of course. if the money is right ill change the title or start a for sale thread. regards, all.

my guess for a quick sale is 5000 minus the cost for tony+/- 2000 = 3000 sounds high but that would be the math. Best of luck ive already got mine

I would say not counting tilts, as these run about $1500 in good condition.

no, per set. But of course I'm using round numbers for good stuff.

Maybe I could have worded it a little better, or you could have read it a little more clearly. What I was referring to @ $1500 was just the tilts, exclusive of seats. And no, I will not sell my set at $1500 or $5000, but I'm a seller at $10,000.

you mention that the covers are removed, how are the buns and bolsters? that can make a big difference in the cost of restoring them. a pair of good solid cores would be $3-4K if they are not tore down to just skeletons.
a rough set needing full extensive rebuild would likely be more sensibly priced at $2-2.5K for a pair with tilter/sliders
keep in mind that brackets alone restored bring that of money just ask confused, he recently...well some time ago... had a beautifully restored set of double lockers for $2,500 and they were well worth it. the supply of these used parts are increasingly hard to find let alone complete correct sets.
I've seen many horrible Franken sets with bad repairs and oversized hex head screws
so condition has a lot to do with what one is willing to pay.

now once in a while there is a screaming deal out there to upset the balance
these were $500 if I remember correctly

I think you're right on the money here. There is reality, then there is dreamworld -- sport seat values usually fall somewhere in between.
