Carbon Fiber Targa Hardtops

After a few months of building and 12 hours driving to and from Hershey for R&D we are announcing out carbon fiber targa hardtops for sale. Pricing will be $2599 plus shipping and we are accepting pre-orders now with a $1000 deposit. We will also be offering fiberglass only versions for $2199 that will have a sandable gelcoat finish that can be surfaced and painted. The tops should be ready for shipping on May 15th barring any acts of god

Here is the thread (full of pics!) showing it's development.

Composite Targa Top Development

At hershey

Please note that this pic is the part pull directly from the mold with no finish work done yet. The resin we use is uv-resistant and the glasurit clear is as well.

The next pic shows what the top will look like once it is sanded and cleared.

are these tops ready to drop in and go or do they need mounting to original?

The carbon fiber of course.

our tops are true plug-n-play meaning you don't need to buy anything else to install it, it is a complete top. the only thing you have to check for are the openings in the top windshield bar where the eustachian plates are mounted. people have reported that the holes are there in up to at least the 1978 model year but i can tell you that they were not present in my 83SC (we had to make them, which is very easy and documents with pics in the thread i linked to).

Hey Nineball- Nice looking top. For someone with a factory hardtop with two busted latches, will your latches work on the old tops, are they available for purchase separately, and, if so, how much? Thanks, Jim

Jim,
our clones of the factory hardtop latch will be finished around May 5. We will certainly make them available separately. Once they're finished and we've got enough to fill top orders we'll establish pricing for hardware ala carte.

kt,
pm one of us for ordering info.

Thanks all,

Very nice, but out of my price range.
Let me know if you're planning to sell parts, kit or unfinished Fiberglass version.
Thanks,
-C
PS - looks like the yellow car in the background of your last pic has one of those low rider bouncy spring things in it....

Thanks for the comments, we are working on a couple of things to get pricing down a bit and also to fit the J-Hook style latches.

I'll keep you posted,

We do have one of each of the tops that utilize factory hard-top latches available however we're having trouble sourcing the latches themselves.

In addition, based on a few improvements in the layup process and the sheer volume of carbon we are buying these days, pricing has been adjusted to $1800 in carbon and $1400 in fiberglass. This is is sans latches and seals but does include guide pins front and rear.
