Strong 3.0 Motor for sale
The motor is still in the car and runs great. The motor was rebuild by a shop by the PO. I was told the motor had about 40K miles on it and I have put on another 40K over the past 3.5 years. I have no receipts for the rebuild. The heads are the large valve version and from a 78. The case is an 85, the type w/o the drain plate . Recent alternator change, Magnocore wires, backdated heater, pre-74 exhaust w/ single out muffler (and 78 3.0 exhaust if you want), pop-off valve, hydrolic valve tensioners, I believe the cylinders are Nikasil based on the presence of 11 fins. See discussion on Rennlist.
The motor runs very strong. You are more than welcome to have a leakdown and compression test done. I will be willing to pay for 1/2 of the reasonable cost to have one test done. This motor has seen 3 DE events and used as a daily driver. The motor has been very reliable. The motor will come with all components that are needed to run the motor with the exception of components that must be used in a 3.6 transplant. $4K plus shipping.

I knew it was coming to! But for only $4K you don't get the cool collar, the price would have to be much higher!

Just curious, what is the difference between a back dated heater vs. a normal or stock one???

Mike, the back dated heater eliminates the need for the blower motor and all the heater hoses in the engine compartment. Cleans up the engine compartment and drops a little more weight. The back dated heater system refers to the type used pre-74 and relies upon the fan to push the heat into through the system.

uhh...Paul, last time I checked you need an engine to drive your car. Are you planning something here? Spend too much time behind Mikez's car on the BBII run?

Todd, you can say that. . . I have been accumulating a few parts for a small transformation, about .6 worth.

Sorry, I had to do them again yesterday as the wrench did the compression test with a cold motor. Even on a cold number the numers were w/in 7 lbs. of each other. On a warm motor the numbers are:
1 - 131, 2 - 135, 3 - 136, 4 - 127, 5 - 129, & 6 - 131
