Looks like spindles have been raised. Might want to find out by how much, as this will affect wheel options.

The spindle height is adjustable on these to whatever you would like.

Very trick. I recently installed a set and drove around the block a few times and they are great with torsion bars.

Front spindles are adjustable, which is pretty trick. And you don't have to run coil springs. They work just fine with torsion bars.

The images below are from SRP's 2009 catalog

Are these far too hot (stiff) for a street rod?

They are adjustable. I used the fronts on our street/track car. I'd stiffen them up based on the track conditions, then set to soft for the street.

We have these on the front of a very lightweight 911 approx 1850. Lbs, with a 23mm torsion bar, and they are not to stiff on the street. One of the most important features of these is the ability to adjust the ride height by raising the spindles, instead of cranking on the torsion bar adjusters. Raising the spindles keeps all of the suspension geometry in line, and keeps the shock travel where it is supposed to be. You are also able to lower the roll center of the car, so the front assembly’s are much more than just shocks. We could not use the Fox Shocks on the rear because the very small diameter of our 69 chassis shock tubes would not allow the clearance needed for the reservoir plumbing. We had special bilstien triple adjustables built for the rear.
