WTB: TALL 5th Gear for 915 Transmission

*******Disregard this post - Found what I need. Thanks for the help. Jack ********

WTB: Tall 5th gear 0.63 (tooth count of 32/20) for Porsche 915 trans-axle transmission. Would also consider .65 or .68

Also in the market for a taller 4th gear .889 - let me know what you have.

Going in a '77 911 V8 conversion car. Please email me at: bonvo1234@yahoo.com

Thanks, Jack

I’ve got some .595, but nothing in the .6-.7 Range.

Yes, I agree as far as OEM from PAG, however there are gears like this.
Had this gear in my 915 behind a 964 3.6 but it was a little too tall.
By the way to the OP, with a 32/20 you will have to grind clearance for the 32 tooth
driven gear into the 915 nosecone tailpiece. Been there done that!
Also, don't expect aftermarket gears to run quiet like OEM,
they WHINE. I'm sure Matt Monson can explain why.

Now have a TL 29/21 .72 5th gear like you have and it's just about perfect.
Eighty mph at 3000RPM, kinda like overdrive. LOL

Wow look at the huge amount of dog teeth overhang on the "loose" gear! Plus i'm surprised to see the fixed/splined gear to be drilled all the way through for lightening.

Good luck with the search

That's something Porsche used to do on racecars like the 917, 908, etc. It's where PowerhausII got the idea for their "light gears ahead" motto.

Thanks Matt for the history on the gear lightening. I'd seen that before on some newer PHII gears like the NOS 1.217 23:28 I got from your garage sale awhile back. But that splined gear is only partially drilled through. I also have a 1.000 26:26 PHII 5th gear I inherited within my racecar's trans that looks the same- partly drilled

5th gear

I can't help the OP.

But the tallest OEM 5th was 30/21 but this gear was special order.
I ran this in one of my car.
