FS Carrera Distributor

Was running this distributor in my race car. We were searching for why I was getting missing under power. Bought and tried another distributor.
It made no difference and turned out that some dirt had migrated from the new fuel tank and plugged up the fuel rails.
Selling the distributor for $250 shipped.

Might want to specify what year. That is not a 3.2 distributor.

I thought that SC 3.0 distributors had a CCW rotation?

Ok, I am confused as well. Did a search of the number and came up with this:

https://www.google.com/search?q=237+505+001+porsche&client=firefox-b-1&ei=KSumWtSSA5CEjwPZoo-QCg&start=10&sa=N&biw=1178&bih=733 All the posts indicate it is from a Carrera. What is it out of if not a Carrera?

Did another search and found this: https://www.google.com/search?q=0237.304.016+porsche&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1
Need some help here.

hi steve, here are some pics of 3.2 distributors hope this will help clear up your confusion. the part # is 0 237 505 001 and they are clockwise rotation. the easiest way to identify is the inside is bare except for a centrifugal advance mechanism and the clamping base is non adjustable. hope this helps, richard

steve, after looking closer at the pics it appears that it may be a 3.2 distributor that has been modded to work with a cdi unit ? kinda strange

Thanks, Richard The dizzy I am selling has the same part number, but is missing the piece shown in your picture. The arrow points clockwise. My Carrera is 50 miles away getting a top end and broken studs repaired. Would have checked it first.
The engine was built by a person that has over 45 years of Porsche race car engineering development. It is very possible that he modified the distributor for this engine.
Open for offers. I am selling 40 years worth of 356/911 parts that I have collected.

steve, after looking VERY closely at that distributor it is definitely a 3.2 that has been converted to a CDI, not sure how well that would work in any set up. at the minmum you would have to change the distributor drive gear on the crank to match the rotation of the advance mechanism's( both centrifugal and vacuum) and possibly more .what type of engine configuration were you using that in, i have one of the old SUN distributor test machines that i would love to put that thing on and see what the curves look like, richard
