Distributor - help!
Hi
Please be warned - there's a stupid question coming up! Please could someone tell me if the distributor itself - bottom casing that attaches to the car (not the rotary arm) should move? It is bolted securely, but it moves side to side a little. Is this right, or should it be completely static? Having restored the rest of the car, I am now starting work on the engine, which is completely alien to me, so I may be asking lots of very basic questions ... Please answer them in basic terms too - it's going to be a very long learning curve! Both your expertise and patience are much appreciated Many thanks Andrew |

Hey Andrew - according to our Catalog Manager (Porsche guru), it should be quite snug in there. He mentioned for you to check the o ring. You should be able to turn it to set the timing, but it really shouldn't be moving at all.
