FLywheel oil seal - crank end-play
Replacing the flywheel oil seal, iron-gasket, clutch, new gland nut, etc. Also had the flywheel ground by a shop that's done 912 flywheels before.
Using the old gland nut and one steel 0.010" shim, I got an end-play of 0.026". The new iron gasket is 0.003" after measuring it, so when that's installed I will be down to 0.023". Now, I have two more 0.010" shims, so if I use one, I will be down to 0.013." Question is, if anyone makes a 0.005" shim, that would get me down to 0.008. Is this good enough for an engine with more that 100k miles, or should I try to achieve the 0.005-0.005" OEM recommendation? ______________ 1968 Porsche 912 2011 BMW 328i 2014 Audi A4 Last edited by wkrtsm; 07-21-2019 at 10:57 AM.. |

RESOLVED, was able to find some after converting the thousandths I needed to mm and searching online. It worked out that I needed 0.027", and I found two shims that when used together will give me the 0.027".
