Replacing 901.341.663.00 Front Spindle Washer
This thrust washer is shown NLA by our host and others.
What is the best replacement for this 16mm thrust washer for the early 911/912 with 16mm front spindles? Has anyone found another way to stop the wear and galling of the washer? Charlie '66 912 |
Google 901.341.663.00 & you’ll find several sources, or enter that part # in Ebay search for a few more.

Thanks Bill,
The cause of the impossible to adjust wheel bearings was that a previous owner used the wrong thrust washers for our 16mm spindles. Instead of the 901.341.663.00 washer with 16mm bore he used the 911.341.663.00 washer with 18mm bore. This let the washer float out of set position, gall and wear and lose bearing preload. The swarf then flowed around wearing out bearings, etc. I found the correct 16mm washer, finally. It had been resurrected by sierra m for the early 911/912 & 914's thru '73 with the 16mm spindles. I'm rebuilding with all new bearings now. We hope every daily driver gets the message on this to save wheel bearing trouble out there. Charlie |
