Rear window rubber nightmare

Hello,
I am going to install the rear window but have run into a problem. I cant get the rubber seal to go around and stay on the glass, it just keeps slipping off.

If anyone can give me some advice I would be grateful, thanks.

Do you have the aluminum trim pieces installed correctly into the rubber seal?

I’ve had good results putting it on before installing the glass. Also, I’ve read that some newer versions of the rear seal are junk - even the so-called OEM ones.

Hello Bill,

Thanks for the reply, I misread your reply regarding putting on the trim, I could not get the rubber seal to stay on the glass so I never got to install the trim. I think you are right about there being junk seals, there is no way that the rear seal I have will fit the glass.

I also tried to install the front windshield today (with the help of a friend), I got the rubber around the glass and the trim installed but we just couldn't get it to install into the car. In the end we took off the trim and then the glass went in without a problem, the only thing is that the trim will not go on now that the glass is installed in the car. Any ideas on how to proceed?

Thanks

The only thing I can suggest for installing the trim is plenty of soapy water and getting the rubber as warm as possible. Then get one end started and using prying tools work your way around prying open the rubber channel while pressing in. It helps to mark the center top & bottom center of the glass so you know how to position the trim. Be careful as h tim can easily bend.
