A Few Pics of my 912
Kinda slow this weekend. Thought I'd post some pics of my '68 912 for ya'll. Matching numbers, approx. 122K, rebuilt with big-bore kit. Currently having a new dizzy installed and the carbs re-worked. Next project is the brakes/bearings with all new bits front and back. Enjoy!

I especially like your pic where the 944 owners are congregating around the 912. The classics always draw the crowd!

Got her out of the shop last month. Then two weeks later - a fire in the front bonnet torches the wiring harness. So, she's back in the shop. New wiring harness from Germany... still looking for a horn relay. Hope to have her complete in time for the Parade up in Hershey.

Any idea how it happened, evidently you were near by at the time thank goodness. Many, many years ago I was driving down the highway and my aircooled beetle caught fire, fuel leak and the fuel line passed right over the top of the distributor. Tractor trailer driver chased me down and put it out with his fire extinguisher.

I believe either the jack or breaker bar made contact with the battery terminal(s). I was driving home at the time and the last couple of blocks were a little hairy with me hanging my head out the window trying to breath due to the smoke filled cabin. Once in the driveway, I was able to smother the fire with my car cover (may it rest in peace). Only afterward did I go into shock when considering the consequences of the fuel tank being directly beneath the flames... an extinguisher and battery cover were my next two purchases!
