*sigh* 912 purist rejoice

Ok you guys win. I have oficiaally put the conversion perversion porsche project on hold. I have a '68 912 shell ( mostly complete missing engine ) But after seeing all of the nice " original" cars out there I have decided NOT to put the Buick v6 in her. The problem I have now is this ... I dont have a 912 motor. I will be putting a much warmed up VW type 1 in it this summer so as I can finally drive it around some and figure I will watch E-bay and collect orriginal parts as time and money allows. is it blasphemus to put the SC flares on an early SWB 912 ? I really kinda dont like the slab sided look. Also The car came with 4 6x15 fuchs ( I have checked the part numbers and they are genuine ( early 901-xxx-06 I beleive ) but 2 are kinda damaged... who do you recomend for repairs and refinish ?

The motor that would really make it move would be a WBX crank Type one. 94mm by 76.8 2132cc, It very easy to build and uses all factory VW parts except the pistons. you will get about 120 hp but the torque will pin you in the seat. I install a 1976cc (90.5 x 76.8) in a West Type-2 Fixed Hi-Top it would cruise at 70 mph with a quarter throttle and that with a single solex carb, with twin 44 Idfs in a 912 it would fly. Steve
