912e vin
Hi All,
Anyone know of a VIN decoder that can decipher the 10 digit VIN's used in pre-81 Porsche's? I have a 912E, and am trying to find the Build Sheet with original engine number, and exterior color color. The 912 registry only gives a range of #'s for the engine, and the exterior color code 305-9-2 (Arrow Blue) does not match up with the door jamb sticker KUNSTHARTZLACK 700-9-2 (Black). As always, any help would be appreciated. Cheers, DJ |

DJ:
For a 912E it should decode as (using the example below) 912600XXXX Where first three are model; 6 is year of manufacture (i.e., 1976); 0 is model 912E; 0 coupe; and the remaining (x's) are the actual serial number. Hope this helps, Bill Last edited by WFBowen; 11-09-2020 at 08:47 PM.. |

Hi Bill,
Thanks for posting. I was hoping to find a site (that you didn't have to pay for) that from the VIN could tell me the engine number, original paint color, essentially the build sheet. Cheers, DJ |
