Midwest 912 event in June -Taj Ma Garaj Kreuzers

http://912rendezvous.org/midwesttaj.htm

This year, the Taj Kreuzers Speedfest will feature the 912 to celebrate the 40th anniversary, with special 912 parking and awards at the show. The 912 Registry will also have a tent there as well, selling 912 Registry goodies, memberships, badges, and passing out informational packets as well. We will have a 912 a driving tour as well as a 912 Registry banquet for all who wish to attend. This will guarantee a good time for all Midwest and East coasters who attend (as well as any iron men or women thinking about coming from Texas the West coast as well!)

This is a great event and all are encouraged to attend, no matter if you have a garage queen, a project, or a daily driver. Plus it benefits such a worthy cause! The only way you could go wrong is to miss it. ALL 912's and 912E's are welcome!

The Taj Kreuzers Speedfest is the 5th annual Sports car based, multi-event, 8 public, 1 private, car show and Concours d' Elegance held at historical Carillon Park in Dayton Ohio. On June 5, 2004 we attracted over 200 Porsches (various other similar brands were also represented) and hundreds of spectators. The event was planned, staffed, and managed by an all-volunteer crew. By all accounts, was well run and collected over $50,000 for the Miami Vally Ronald McDonald House.

schedual of events

Thurs June 2: Evening with Vic Elford
Fri June 3: Quaker Steak & Lube party
Sat June 4: MVSCC Auto Cross at WSU
Sat June 4: Taj Ma Garaj Museum
Sat June 4: The Taj Ma Garaj VIP
gala
Sat June 4: 912 driving tour followed by 912 registry dinner.
Sun June 5: The Taj Road Warriors
Sun June 5: Taj Kreuzers Concours

Registration starts March 15, 2005. for more information, and to register please visit http://www.tajmagaraj.com/

if you sign up and are attending please rsvp for the saturday 912 driving tour and dinner by emailing me at hoffman912@gmail.com

Also we are always looking for friends in all the wrong place to help out! John Dixon, owner of the Taj Ma Garaj Collection, and Chairman of this event has helped us out greatly to pull this off. In exchange for his kindness we have offered to volunteer our services to either help with arranging parking areas at the event or for clean up after the show -it is the least we could do to show our appreciation for his support.

Also, we will have the 912 Registry tent set up to sell 912 registry gear, pass out 912 registry information, as well as sign up new members at the car show on Sunday. We are looking for volunteers to work the tent (don’t worry, we will take turns and it will be done in shifts so we can all enjoy the festivities!) If you're interested in volunteering, please contact me at Hoffman912@gmail.com

Just a reminder guys, spots for certian events are limited, and open to all porsche models, like the sunday driving tour before the show.

I've been asked a few questions so some clarification is needed. The Saturday 912 drive will be more of a leisurely drive before dinner compared to the Sunday one the Taj officially has set up for all makes and models. This is why I strongly urge you to sign up for the Sunday one before spaces fill up -especially if you’re like me, and really enjoy a good spirited run.

The Saturday 912 events are not official Taj Kreuzer events, and therefore not on the Taj website. Its just something we are setting up since there aren’t any public events Saturday night. Also we decided to have the dinner on Saturday since most people will want to head home after the show on Sunday. The RSVP is requested in order to sign up for the 912 stuff on Saturday.

Ok guys, we have a little over a month before the big event!

Just incase you’ve forgotten, or haven’t been paying attention this is a multi event featuring the finest German engineering this side of the Rhine. Best of all, the proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Miami Valley Ronald McDonald House, so not only are we all winners by having a spectacular weekend, but the kids win as well!

If you have not signed up yet, now is the time to do so!! remember, there are limited spaces on several of the events for this gathering, so sign up before you get left out!!

If you are attending this event, you must sign up at:
http://www.tajmagaraj.com/events/kreuzers_2005/

Also, and this is a big MUST, if you are attending this event, we need you to RSVP with me. John Dixon needs to know how much space he needs to allot for our 912 corral, and we want to make sure we have enough space to accommodate all who attend. Also, as mentioned in previous updates, we will be having a 912 Registry Dinner on Saturday night. It is imperative that we let the restaurant know how many will be attending!! Lastly, we need volunteers to help out with the 912 Registry goody tent, and clean up afterwards. If you can spare an hour to help inform others about the registry, or to man the goodies store tent, or to help clean up afterwards, it would be greatly appreciated. If you are a 912er attending the event, PLEASE RSVP with me at hoffman912@gmail.com . Please also include in your email if you are willing to donate some of your time to help out.

Finally, if there are any members from the Texas, So Cal or Bay area 912 groups interested in coming out, we would love to have you! Remember, we are celebrating the 40 Jahre of 912! I cant think of a better way than setting out on a road trip in your 912, to meet more like minded enthusiasts! Not to mention, we would be honored to have a board member or two present at our gathering.

Here is the RSVP list todate. If your name is missing, or you need to be added, please let me know ASAP by emailing me at hoffman912@gmail.com When you email me, please put TAJ RSVP in the subject line!

Guys, at our meeting last month for the Taj planning commitee I spoke to Mr Dixon about having preferred parking for all of the early 911 and early 912 (pre 74) in the gated area (Taj Courtyard) for the Vic Elford evening.

I had the pleasure of speaking with Vic for a while on the phone Friday and what a complete gentleman! He will be bringing some photos and books to sell and autograph, but told us that 40% of the sales price will go towards oour charity. Hopefully he will be driving my 911 instead of me when we arive at the Taj.

Looking forward to all of our 912 brethren. Anyone want to start a pool whether Harry gets his 912 lowered by then?

thanks for the update Dave! I cant wait to meet him myself -the guy has to have thousands of stories to tell, and an encyclopedic knowledge of racing history as well as the knechnical know how. This is definitly going to be the premier event of the summer -im totally psyched!

i doubt it will get lowered in time. the engine will be back next week, but ill have to wait another week for the exhaust to get back from ceramic coating, as well as a bunch of other much needed parts before i can take it out. so that puts me about mid may before its back on the road. Id like to get it broken in before the event so i can at least drive at a pace thats more adequate for the driving tour (with in legal limits of course), so this leaves very little time to wait for shop work to be done. My friend who uses the same mechanic tells me that Ed has a 3 week back log of clients right now. So i guess ill have it done after the event instead.

if anyone says anything about it, ill just tell them its my tribute to Vic's win in the 1967 monte carlo rallye.

John has informed me that this year will be the biggest year yet for this event. They have already surpassed last year's registration numbers. There will be an auto-x, driving tours, a swap meet, car show, and of course a tour of Johns museum. If you missed the chance to see it last time, now you can! Also, the 912 will be featured at this years event to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The 912 Registry, along with John Dixon's help and blessing will be pulling out all the stops. We will have a banquet on Saturday June 4, after the museum tour, for all 912ers (while membership to the registry is recommended, its not mandatory). At the banquet we will be handing out prizes, goodies and freebie's to those who show up. And on Sunday, there will be the world famous Taj Ma Garaj Kruezers driving tour, followed by the car show. At the car show the registry will have a section set up for the 912ers to park, and we will have a 912 registry tent, where we will be selling goodies from the Registry Goody store as well, as passing out copies of the 912 Registry Magazine, and information about the 912 and the 912 Registry.

While the entire weekend is packed with fun filled events, we understand that I may be the only one here with no life who can attend em all. If you could only come out to the event for one day I would suggest to try to make it on Sunday to the car show, as that's where the biggest event is, and that's when the big anniversary celebration really is. The car show will be Sunday June 5 at Carillon Park in downtown Dayton, Ohio. Also, we will have awards for Best of Show, Most Miles (commonly known as the Iron Butt award), Oldest 912, The Cop Bait award (For the fastest looking car, whether it is indeed fast or not), and finally the Love is Blind Award for those who need more than a good wax to win a concourse. As you can see it doesn't matter what condition your car is in, or what kinda 912er you are, whether its all original, or modded and hot rodded. All that matters is that you come out for a good time. Best of all guys, it benefits a good cause as all proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House of Miami Vally. So by showing up, not only do you support your club, and show off your cars, you also support the kids, and after all, they are really what its all about.

if you decide to come out and join in the fun, please register at www.tajmagaraj.com
Remember, this year will have the largest attendance ever for this event, so for those who want to attend events that have limited spaces, such as the driving tour or Vic Elford meet and greet, sign up ASAP to squeak out one of the last spots. If you need to find maps of locations where everything will be located at, they too can be found on the www.tajmagaraj.com

also those who are attending, please remember to RSVP with me so we know how many will be attending the dinner, and so we know how many will be arriving at the show for the special 912 parking area, so John can a lot of enough space for all of us. TO RSVP please email me at hoffman912@gmail.com with Taj RSVP in the subject line. An RSVP list is located at the bottom of this email, if you're name is not on there, please let me know so that i can add you to the list.

for those planning to attend, here is a schedule of events for the weekend.

Thurs June 2: Evening with Vic Elford
Fri June 3: Quaker Steak & Lube party
Sat June 4: MVSCC Auto Cross at WSU
Sat June 4: Taj Ma Garaj Museum
Sat June 4: The Taj Ma Garaj VIP gala
Sat June 4: 912 Registry Dinner, and relaxed driving tour
Sat June 4: 912 driving tour followed by 912 registry dinner.
Sun June 5: The Taj Road Warriors Driving Tour
Sun June 5: Taj Kreuzers Concours

location of the Saturday night dinner is still TBA, as we are finalizing the details on stuff. It wont be 5 star, and it certainly wont be fast food. Just a nice casual affordable restaurant.
