Cool 912E Fuel Line help.

I am replacing the old gas tank on my 912E and I figure I should also replace the 40+ year old gas hose as well. Does anyone have a diagram of how the line gets from front to back. Is the gas line steel from front to back and I don't have to worry about it? I don't see anything under the car except for the pump. ANY help would be great.

Thanks

The line passes front to rear through a tunnel above the floor plan. A steel line can rust through. If you pull the old line out, slip a piece of piano wire through it for a guide before removing it. Its way easier with the engine removed.

Reach out to Len (boxstergt) on this site, he makes replacement fuel lines as a specialty.

The 912e uses a plastic feed and return line in the tunnel. I did a complete fuel system refresh, removing gas tank, tunnel lines and all rear lines. It’s tight up front, helps to have a helper feed or pull from back to front. Rears have a few sneaky routing places, but self explanatory.

Replacing fuel lines

My main fuel line has started to leak through the rust spots and I’ve patched a spot already. Only half of the line is bad; from the passenger side back. Could I run fuel injection hose from the rear of the car to mid body? I’m confident it would hold but it would have to come close to the exhaust. The car is a 2004 Saturn ion with steel lines.
