Hershey 2003 Pics

Despite the heavy rain and lousy overall weather a few 912's were in attendance at the Hershey Porsche meet. Here are a few pics of some nice 912's that we spotted and a killer 356 "outlaw". If anybody recognises their car in the pics, please speak up and identify yourself! Regards, Mike.

Got to say '65 looks just like mine, although it could be built in 64 called a 65???? Or built in 65 called a 66???

Hmmmmm....do tell

Hey, wait a minute...whats with the reflectors on the rear bumper......could this be a 68???? They aren't on Greta.

Answer Unveiled!

Due to a deluge of e-mails from fellow 912 Spotting Enthusiasts, I will divulge the answer a few hours early.

The specimen in question is. . . . a 1966!!!

Those who guessed 1968 should not feel humbled- this car would cause confusionization for the even most wizened 912 Spotter. For the most part, it looks like an early car from the front and back. But from the side it gives every possible indication of being a '68. In fact, even the guages were of the white-numbered variety. And sure, we see '68 cars with their reflectors "shaved" all the time, but who would go to the length of adding them?

A "PO", that's who. Purists fear not, the current owner plans to convert this conversion back to a '66.

Signing off.

E.

Thank God that it is going back to it's rightfull place as a 66. I hate PO's.......did I ever tell you about mine?????

I hope he has his b.....s removed surgically. I can't begin to tell you the amount of tar that encrusted my car, tools, fingernails, driveway.clothing and hair...let's not talk about the hair, it was very easy removing the tar from my scalp.

Best, Mike

Hey, that '66 Bahama Yellow Coupe is my car!

That's right, the PO did a serious number on her. It is in fact a '66 (#457145 and note the year on the vintage plate), but looks like a '68 with the side reflectors and later door handles, rear bumper reflectors, and gauges, as Enrique noted, if you saw the interior. However, note that the front fender reflector is not in the proper place (too low).

The purist in me cringed when I saw all the incorrect stuff on this car, but this was the best looking Bahama Yellow I could find . . . . I am a sucker for that color, and there don't appear to be many SWBs Bahama Yellow.

Oh, and another thing, the fan shroud and oil filter canister have been chromed!

Enrique. You internship starts in a few weeks, right? See ya then?

What are people thinking by taking cars out in the rain?
