66 912 under dash holes?

my 912 has these holes on both the left and right sides up under the dash. is there supposed to be something that seals them? the right side has the hood release pull going through it. the left is just there. would someone tell me what they are and if something goes in them? thanks

I’ll take a stab at this but remember it’s just a guess. Some early cars have this pass-through where your hood release is. (BTW this is from the early 911s site which is a great source of info for 912 cars - lots of very knowledgeable folks who tend to leave their egos at the door.)

Hey thanks that piece that covers the hole but lets the heat duct go through. That’s the part I think I need. I will check out the bbs and early 911s. Thanks again
