Best Spark Plug
 

What spark plug gives you the best all around performance, Bosch, NGK or others.

I run standard Bosch W6BC but a friend swears by NGK BP7HS for his 356, says W6BC's foul too easily. NGK also recommends it for the 65-69 912.

What plug gap do you use?

I use Bosch w6bc, have had no problem with fouling. Gap .024-.025

I have heard folks talk about an Iridium plug from Denso that is supposed to be real good. I have no direct experience with it so I cannot vouch for it.

I use the bosch w6bc myself and get them at the local VW shop.

I had a interesting discussion with a fellow who made interesting case for Bosch w6 or 7bc's, NKG's are slightly longer than Bosch. They call it the "extended tip", under extreme situations pistons have been known to hit the electrode of the NKG plug. I know....., the cross reference works in the book. It's simply food for thought. BTW I have Perma-tune and I run a .030 gap, seems to be ok, I've never had a plug foul.

Intresting as my other half read this thread and started to quote from this thread I had a long chat with Andy Prill an engine builder on the level of our Harry (RIP) and he says NGK B6HF. As the others have the elctrode too long. He builds engines for race cars and street

Well...I guess we pay our money and we take our chances, personally I'll stick with Bosch....there's just something about German and Japanese together.
Not to dispute the esteemed Mr. Prill but if you mic. the plugs...they are a little longer.

The reason for the NGK's is that the bosch on some engines foul up and the NGK's seam to burn hotter I guess, yes they are longer.

I found this out as i have a set of org porsche plugs and the my other half had Bosch on her car the Bosch foul up and miss fire .Also they hit the piston and close the gap. But I have now been told that Roger bray resto supply the wrong type of plug so that is why they are hitting the top of the piston. the org in mine are running fine.

I am no engine man but I have really looked in to this.
