Targa Ski Racks?

Anyone ever heard of a Targa speficic ski rack offered by Porsche as an option?

I met a former parts guy from MY Porsche in California. He said the holes in the verticle areas were for an optional ski rack.

Anyone know anything about such? Just curious...

I have a couple of Piper ski racks for the 911 and the 356
I think they covered all models, I even have an old brochure somewhere. I will look for you over the weekend. I always liked because "no holes necessary" and No rust from alum/SS mats.
I had to remake the rod mounts to accept the new wide skis,

My BC (whistler) ski patrol friend says instead of the rear roof vent hole U clip on the coupes, the targa has a vertical bracket on the side of the targa hoop...still looking for photo
He said the alternative was a window mount??? like at the drive- in movie speaker...sounded a little frail with no proper window frame on targa. Great guy but he is canadian, just kidding.

I looked thru my factory parts & accessories manuals and found nothing as an option for ski racks. I'm confident though that dealers in certain areas did sell aftermarket stuff for the cars which included ski racks that were aluminum with rubber binders/holders for the skis. They clipped on to the bottom of the bumper guard and onto the top of the decklid. EZ on EZ off without marking up the car. I did see a set on Ebay recently for the 911/912 as described above. Good luck on the search.

There's one on eBay now that looks like it would work for either Coupe or Targa...
