I recently purchased a set of deep six Fuchs. I am wondering what size tires will look best and not rub anywhere. I do not want the current tall skinny look (165/65/15). Thinking 185 or 195/60. Not going for the “kid racer” look at all. Just want something a bit more sporty. Any advice is appreciated
Thanks |

The original overall diameter is 25.2” so any tire within a half inch of this will look like it belongs on the car. Lower than this will lower the car, start to effect gearing and speedometer readings and visually create a visual open space in the top of the wheel well.
As long as you stay to an available variant of the original 185/70r15 all will be well. JMO, Bill |

I think 195/65 would be closer at 25.0” tall and would fill out the wheel well.
Of course, your call. Bill |

Lol. Yes I am certainly caught between 185 and 195. We’ll see.

The Pirelli CN36 in 185/70R15 is the best tire for the job. A period correct design with modern sticky tire construction. The size is right for the car and optimized on a 6" wide wheel. They are available from your local Porsche dealership for less than others are selling them online. Tirerack may also be selling them now, which would be a recent development.
There are also Avon CR6ZZ tires but they're more of a race tire. https://www.cinturato.net/185-70-15.html https://lucasclassictires.com/porsche-911-tires/ PS: I have a client with a 66 912 that has 6" Fuchs and 195/65 tires that rub on his struts. In 1968 Porsche added a 7mm spacer front and rear.

Mr Merk
Thanks for that last comment. I will be getting 185/65’s. You just helped me with that decision |

I mounted 185/60 on deep six Fuchs and the look is much sportier without distorting the original spirit. No worries about friction, top handling. The 195/60 also passes, but it is a little more visually filled. Personally, I find that the 185/60 is the best compromise between style and comfort. It just modernizes what is needed

What tires? Tirerack has zero "performance" tire options available in a set of four, just a ton of "touring" tires.
