whats my 1969 912 worth?
Hello all!
I own a 1969 912 and i was wondering what the car is worth. Ive searched the web with no luck. Here are the details: Single family owned, my father bought it in 1969, gave it to me about 10 yrs ago. Body : no rust, repainted approx. 15-20 yrs ago. I have photos of all of the body work. paint is in great condition. 40000 original miles 5 speed New weber carbs, bosch ignition, wires and coil, new exhaust, new tires, battery. Valves gapped, engine timed, carbs balanced last year. I have the original solex carbs(need rebuilding) and aircleaners as well. Remainder of the car is original. Stored winters, driven about 5-10 times a summer on average. Has the following imperfections: Clock face is scratched from cleaning and doesnt keep time, dash has a crack as does the speaker cover, driver side armrest has a crack, missing one chrome strip on drivers side door pocket, not sure if heater system works as i dont use it. I am thinking of selling the car this summer unfortunately. If anyone can point me to a website or give me your opinion on what is is worth, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks, -jamie |

Jamie,
Here is a link to the most current valuation information. This is compiled by PML Magazine (Porsche Market Letter) and is considered failry accurate. If you are a member of the PCA they have a free valuation service for Porsches that can be used to set the value for insurance purposes etc. Off the top of my head I think their high value was about 14K with a low value of around 3K, depending on car condition etc. Hope this helps http://www.912registry.org/faqs/value.htm Craig 69-912 |

craig-
thanks alot for the link. Other info i forgot to add: Color is burgandy(not sure if that is the right name for the color, but it was repainted to match the original paint) with black interior. When i say no rust, i meant no visible rust holes on the exterior body. Im sure there is minor surface rust here and there, but no structural damage. -jamie |

Jamie,
Search that 912 Registry sight for the proper paint color code. On the drivers side door post you will see a little silver tag with a number in it like 6805 or 6807. There is a list on the Registry site that will tell you what the original color was. My color code is 6805 but the car sure isn't bahama yellow anymore either. It is what I call "hello officer, no I have no idea how fast I was going" red....... You will find an awful lot of info on that site. I see you are in Wisconsin, how close to Milwaukee and or Chicago?? |

A car as you describe should sell in the high 8Ks to low 10Ks.
69 was the last year and the only year for the LWB body...this commands a premium. When shopping for 912s people are looking for early 65-66 or the last ones which would be 69s. good luck, erik. |

Jamie,
does it look like this color? its a 68 912 the color code (at least for 68 it was) 6808, known as burgandy red (what mine is). they also have burgandy red listed as special color code 30868, and Maroon listed as special color code 30736. here is 6808 burgandy red, from the color sample on the 912 registry. ![]() i find it to be a really odd color that looks like brown at one time, purple at another, eggplant at others, but in the right light... its just burgandy. its also a very hard color to maintain.

Harry-
That looks like the same color as my 69. I agree about the color appearing brownish in certain light. My father had it repainted some time ago, but when i asked him he said he had the color matched exactly. I havent had a chance to check the color code on the car to be sure. Id really like to get those fuchs wheels for it ![]() -jamie |

I thought we were selling it? Are we getting the 912 bug? Are you figuring out how to keep it? I hope so. It's as much fun as I've had with my clotes on recently!

Now to convince her "yes honey we really do need those wheels for it" ![]() -jamie |

Yep 6808 is Burgundy red I have a ex Ca 912 in this colour mine too is a 69 912 and it looks great I have kept the steels on for now and they look great. I have the alloys but I get so many comments on the steels. That is because they have been shot blasted and then painted nice bright silver. And boy do they stand out now.

I checked the color code this weekend, and it is 6808. I tried to post some pictures in my gallery, but it didnt work (slow dial-up at home). I'll have to try it again.
Mark- That is one sharp looking 912! -jamie |

lookin good. its really hard to capture the color with any camera. also unless its really bright out, they will come out really dark, or even look brown or eggplant like. like these pics i took once in the late afternoon.

new price fixing for 912
A very nice but by no means exceptional 67 912 just went for $15,700 on ebay. This car was original paint, had been detailed, original cases with older cylinders, replaced drivers seat, etc - In short, an old car with not much freshening. I think this is an indication that these cars are hot and interest in them is increasing.
