Porsche Crest '69 Generator ... in UK?

Hi,

I am having problems with my charging circuit. The charge light on the dash is constantly lit, and after checking there wasn't a problem with oil pressure, I have tested the charging circuit. I have drawn the conclusion (with help from the manuals) that either or both the generator and regulator need overhauling or replacing. I'm not very mechanical, so replacement seems the best option ...

... does anyone know where I can get hold of a rebuilt genie in UK? I'm pretty sure its the big diameter one ...

Cheers

Simon

First, I would replaced both. Pelican sells the rebuilt generator, gr15x - $126 . Not sure why not reg.(30amp)

You can buy
a NEW large dia. generator that will fit. . BugCity is where I bought mine. gr15x 12v 30amp 67-73 $115 . Any VW place should have this part on hand.

Stoddards has the reg. for ( $183.30) . Bought mine for alot less ($40), just dont remember where.

Have you checked the brushes in the generator?
