R&R Boge Gas Strut Inserts
I finished installing one boge gas filled front strut insert and it was not too difficult. The top retaining flanged nut came off easily with a big pipe wrench.
Removing the old insert was easy but when installing the new gas insert you have to force the shaft down to get it to swing under the front fender lip. It does take some force to do so by hand and with a rag on the threads. I overfiled the oil in the strut casing and had a mess to clean up. The other one should be a breeze now that I know how to do it. I was worried that the gas filled insert would not clear the fender lip unless I had some kind of clamp to compress the shaft, but was able to compress it enough by hand so it worked out OK. FYI Thanks, Ron D |
Good to hear Ron! Let us know how it rides.
