Question RH Durant Mirror Location

Does anyone have a factory installed right hand Durant Mirror?

I need the RH mounting location so I can install a RH mirror.

I know the factory hole pilots in the RH door are for a car with RH drive and are probably too low for proper location to be seen from the LH drivers location.

Thanks

Ron D

Sorry, my car's RHD so I'm not sure if I can be of any help.

Can I ask, though, where you got the RHS mirror from?

Cheers

James

James:
I bought a set of 69 Durants off the 911 Classifieds in this BB. I was unable to tell any difference between either mirror, they looked the same, had the same movement angles and were identical.

I have a LH mirrior and was looking for a matching RH mirror. I have since sold the extra to my friend Evren a 69 91T owner in Istanbul Turkey.

The mounting location is in question. last night I experimented with various mirror locations by tapeing it to the car and sitting in the drivers seat. I discovered to see the mirrort at all it had to be mounted as high as possible and as far rearward as the vent window. No way near the LH mirror position.

It just looks odd in this position and I am trying to research other locations from pictures to verify what I have come up with. This picture is from the 911/912 Restorers Guide by Dr. B. Johnson.

Thanks,
RonD

Yes I know the mirror in the picture it a Talbot not a Durant but that was the only picture I could find of any RH mirror.

Anybody have other pictures of cars with RH mirrors??

Thanks,
Ron D

I have aftermarket mirrors on both sides. they give the car a uniform look, but the RH mirror is pretty much useless to the driver and the passenger is tasked with its use.

The mounting location is same as on the LH side. I based this on the rubber plugs that cover the screw holes inside the door to mount the mirror. I drilled (i kno- another sin) holes in the outside door skin using the ones on the drivers side as a template and reversing it.

I remember reading somewhere about someone finding measurements for where to locate the holes for the right-hand mirror.

There was one problem however, in that it was for the right-hand mirror on a right-hand drive car. The location was for someone sitting in the right drivers seat, not in our driving position.

The reason I mention this, is that if you find any numbers, check it out before you drill...

Thumbs up RH Mirror Position

Morrie:
Thanks for the pictures. They confirm my location attempts by duck taping the mirror to the door in various spots. It has to be high on the door and at the wing window to be seen from the drivers side.

Durants do no stick out as far from the body as do the Talbots from what I can see from pictures which in this case is not helpful.

My cars going into storage this week, no time to afix the mirror so I will contimplate the mirror position all winter.

Thank again.
