Turbo Tie Rods / Ball Joints for my '68?

I have read a lot about these making a significant difference in the handling of the car. First, does the turbo tie rod kit for 911/912/930 work for 1968 912? Seems it's mostly listed for 69's and up. Secondly, is it worth the work? Although my car is aligned properly, it seems to float irregularly to the right and I have a bit of slop in the steering--and I thought these, along with some new ball joints might do the trick.

Any thoughts would help before I lay out the dough would be great.

The turbo tie rods will fit, but in reality, the stock tie rods, good balljoints and proper alignment is the way I'd go. I have done all of this in my '69, along with lowering, and I love the way the car handles!

My mechanic made the same recommendation... Save the turbo tie rods for the track. For normal street use the stock equipment is more than adequate and gives a more supple ride. He just did my front end to stock specs and the ride is great.

I must agree as well. turbo rods are metal on metal, great for the track, but a bit of rubber on the standard ones aren't as harsh.

turbo tie rods will NOT FIT on a short wheel base car (65-68). you can force them to fit, but they will not fit properly, as they will not thread all the way, thus not being very safe at all. if you have a 69, thats a different story as they will fit. if you have a 68, then you need to put in stock tie rods.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys. That's the exact feedback I was looking for. The car was just aligned, so I will focus on brining it up to new--with factory spec ball joints and tie rods. That bit about the track vs. the street should noted on the part desciptions.

Thanks again-

MAB
