'66-'68 Turn Signal Lenses

Anyone know where to find reasonably priced '66 - '68 turn signal lenses for a '67 912 Targa. Mine are fine now, but need to be replaced as they're colour faded.

The only prices I've seen are in the nose bleed realm, $600 EACH! That's nuts...there must be something more in line.

please e-mail me directly as I'm currently "on ice" in Antarctica. My 912 is snuggly stored, but I've got a few projects in mind when I return home.

Cheers!

Looking at the 65-68 lenses at swap meets, most I've seen have a lot of wear and tear....unfortunately prices for new ones continue to rise....

Wasn't there a way to re-dye the turn signal glass? I thought there was a dissertation on how this is performed in the Panorama years and years ago but I'd really have to go digging to find it. If anyone remembers how to do this offhand, I'd appreciate it as my turn signals are also faded.

I would think that Photographic retouching dyes would work to re-color those lenses. They come in three colors and you would have to blend to get right color, but I bet that would work without looking artificial.

Also! What about the dyes that Glass Blowers use to impregnate their glass with color! That would surely work! I know a glass artist and I will ask him and let you know.
