ELECTRONIC IGNITION RECOMMENDATIONS

Hi All,

Last week I got my first Porsche, a 1968 912, I'm totally stoked !

I'm in the process of sorting out some of the bugs before I use it as a daily driver and was looking for some input on a good electronic ignition conversion.

I've seen several references to Crane's XR-700 and the Pertronix products.

Any recommendations or other advice?

Thanks in advance.

Jay sends...

Hey there,
I've currently got a Purlux in my 912 and it works Great! But I'm "upgrading" to an XR700 and a HI6 Capacative discharge unit. As this setup is supposed to help burn the fuel a bit better(with Webers). The only downside I can see is that it depends on the distributor you're using. I'm currently waiting for Crane to send me the proper shutter(for the XR700) for the 050 dist. I'm using. I'll keep ya posted on the install.
