Solex Float Level Adjustment
I have been annoyed by the backfiring that occurs when I start my 66 912. A friend recommended that I check the float level. I checked the left carb by removing the float chamber plug and gas just barely dropped out. The right however, did nothing no matter how I adjusted the adjustment screw. Finally this last week end, I opened up the right carburetor to see why it was not adjusting. I did not see anything obvious so I cleaned the sediment chamber, cleaned the jets and emulsion tubes and put in a new float needle valve. Now it runs like crap. No good deed shall go unpunished!!! I took one jet out at a time and put it back to make sure I did not mix anything up. I don't know what I did but I must have done something. Jets just screw in until snug right? I did not read about any adjustment. The right carb still does not do anything when I try to adjust float level. Does anyone have any suggestions? What does the distance screw for float toggle spindle do? Can this be put in incorrectly? Thanks!! |
