Porsche engines in a VW
Will somebody please tell me if it is possible to put a Porsche engine in a VW. I know anything can be done...but is it practical, common, etc.
I am stuck between people who suggest it can be done and people who say it can't. What is the answer? And why won't a VW fan shroud fit on my 68 912? And why can't the local Bosche dealer get me an 050 distributer? Can you sense my frustration yet? Ran Hanks ramie@ctaz.com |

Yes, it's possible. No, it's not practical. You can build a VW Type 1 motor to produce as much power as you could want a LOT cheaper and easier than a Porsche motor. A 150 hp 2100cc Type 1 is going in my '66 912 to propel it to numerous autocross wins ( I hope).
