68-912

Have a 73-VW 181 with a 68 Porche 912, big bore kit, Weber IDF 40's, Problem, I can't find specs for ignition timing or point setting, motor also has a voltage reducer going from the coil to the distributor. Is this common? Dist. originally 6V? Also have to change rear crank seal. How do you hold the flywheel without a special expensive tool.
Thanks, Fred holley@mindex.com

The motor for the 912 (except for the 76 912E) is a 356 designed motor. VW/Porsche changed to 12v in 67. So that motor should be a 12V. Try posting your request on the 356 board and/or consider joing www.rennlist.org mailing list.

Good Luck.
