breakerless ignition

I have been considering switching my 061 distributor in a '68 912 over to a solid state or breakerless design to be rid of the points. I was hoping for input or advice from others who had done this, and perhaps pros/cons of any one product over another.
Any thoughts are appreciated, and thank you in advance.

keith-
when i bought my car with a rebuilt engine and big bore kit, one of the things i did was buy a new .050 distributor (only $75!)and a pertronix electronic ignition. i had heard that you can have problems with idle and such from a worn distributor and wanted to be sure. i have used the pertronix before and had great results. the beauty of the pertronix type is it fits entirely under the distributor cap, not like the crane or others that have an external box.

Thanks for the help,
The only other one I've really seen is the IGNITOR setup. I know Mallory used to make a ki, called Unilite if I remember: that was kind of an LED trigger. But that was some time ago, and I think primarily for American V8's. Seems as though the same principles would apply. Thanks for the alternative,
Keith

I've been using a Crane Hi-6 for the last 2 years with the stock coil, plugs, points, and condenser (condenser not needed but I left it on anyway) with also great results. It's true you have to find a location for the box but it was worth the effort. I liked the Crane unit since I could switch back to the stock ignition setup if needed. The results has been easy cold starts, smooth idles, and very good mid and high range rpm response. The Crane unit has a multi-spark feature at low rpms which seems to help i that area.

Just a note, when I got the unit I wasn't sure if it was going to work, so I did a
temporary wire up and since it did work well right from the start I went ahead later to do a more permanent add on.
