zinc coating

How can I know that my 1976 912E was zinc coated from the factory as I have heard that some were and some were not?

I'm thinking of buying a 912E,and would like to know if you can tell if a car has been zinc coated. Is it possible to check by chassis number?.Living in the UK with all the salt that gets put on the roads in winter a non galvanised car would soon rust! I also read that the roof pannel on some early coup galvanised cars was not treated(the Poorsche book a definitive illustrated history), is this the case? any advice welcome.
