can't shut passenger door
I am at my wits end. The day I spend several hundred dollars on new shocks and now my door won't shut. No... The seatbelt is not in the way. What is the problem? Minor adjusment or major deal?

Did you had any problems before? I had a similar problem, took the door panel out and checked the mechanism; I noticed that the inside lock area was dirty so I cleaned the inside lock mechanism with brake cleaner, used a small wire brush to remove any rust, more brake cleaner and then lubricated it with some some oil spray and white lithium grease in spray. Use the thin tube nozzle provided with the spraycan. at the same time, clean & lubricate the cranking window mechanism. let me know if it help.

RETIRED

Worst case....the body was tweeked when lifted. Was the shock R&R done at a shop? Or did you do it yourself? Do you have a rust problem?
If the door adjustment does not do it, start looking for rust in the panels under the doors.... |

I thought it was tweaked at first but the shop that did the work works on Volkswagon Bugs (can I say that name here?) and should not have had a problem lifting it. There isn't any rust and the door seats fine in the door well. The problem is the latch. I shut it once and it closed the way it was supposed to and then the latch released again. Upon shutting the door again it has stayed shut. So I just don't give people rides in the 912 any more. Problem solved.
just kidding I think I will try to replace the locking mechanism. Any Advice? Ran |
