Broken valve guide springs

Why is my car breaking valve guide springs? Replaced 2 springs on right side and now broke #1 exhaust. Cause? Fix? thanks for help.
The car was stored for several years and has recently gotten "almost" back on the road. It has a stock cam and no other engine work is recent.

Steve, there are all kinds of reasons, but you have not submitted any background info. How long have you had this car, has it been rebuilt recently, was it stored for a long time, cam??? etc. Curious .....

Parts wear out.But I would think you have rust pits on the springs maybe from sitting while PO was having work done. The spring got rusty and it was cleaned up and reinstalled but the pits are stress areas that fail. Steve www.914underground.com
