mechanic in manhattan, or
Hi, anyone in the NYC area have any leads on a good mechanic? I'm in Westchester and have had medium to bad luck. My feeling is my car (a decent shape '66 912) is not given priority, so when they take 2 months to change the oil, adjust valves, replace calipers (refurb by white post) I begin to feel neglected.
thank you, Chuck

Try Rennwerke in Elmsford. My dad gets his 911sc cabrio done there. He's been going there for years. Cheech runs the place and is very knowledgeable. I talked to him recently about some 912e and 911 stuff. Good luck.

Hey Chuck,
I am in NYC also and am trying to get a '66 912 from the west. I know of a couple of shops on LI. Whatever you do don't use a 'so called' VW mechanic. I know, I come from 17 years of owning vintage VW's. Whenever in the city,I'd love to see the 912. Best, Steve 1966 912-pending |

thanks guys. I do go to rennwerke, and cheech is a very nice guy and knows his stuff-however, i'm trying to find a smaller shop. and steve, right now the car is in our garage with no interior, just waiting for me to install a new carpet set. i usually drive a few times a week into manhattan in the summers. look forward to your future 912. chuck
