Brake hose replacement

Has anyone had a problem disconnecting the old brake hoses from the metal brake line? In trying to replace mine, the nut won't turn. Any ideas on this? I have tried "liquid wrench" but no success so far. Thanks for your input! Duke, 69 912.

You might have to replace it. My 69 912 (#3078)was a babied car until 97, then neglected for 2 years where it sat and got rained on. A lot can happen in two years. When I began restoration (while keeping a driver) the first thing was the removal and replacement of all breakhoses. One stuck, same as you, couldn't be freed, and the whole metal line came out, replaced by a new one plus the new brake line hose. It was not expensive. Hope this helps.

I don't get the copy and post - did some text get lost in the post?

When the brake hoses on my 68 were replaced with braided lines, I had the same problem, especially with the rear lines. Soaking them in WD40 and then heating them up with a torch helped loosen them up.

Be careful if you use a torch to heat the fittings on the old rubber lines. I don't know the physics behind it, but they go off like a firecracker if too much heat is applied. I spent a couple of weekends under my 68 912 last spring upgrading to braided stainless lines. I had to cut two of the metal lines off where they meet the flex line and borrow a bubble-flare tool from a local garage to get everything back together again. I thought that it would be an easy job but the corrosion made it a real chore!

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I had to use a product called "Aerokroil" & had to clamp the upper steel 11mmnut while disconnecting the lower 14mm one. This is the only way I was able to get the old rear lines out. The front ones were not as bad. Duke, 69 912
