Look at this. Daddy buys son nice looking 912 but wanted a Jeep instead. Hopefully it will be purchased by someone who cares. |

That's really sad! If my dad bought me a 912 for my birthday I would be forever in debt to him. I guess I just can't see how a person could turn down a Porsche 912 for a Jeep! Mind boggling.
You must admit, that 912 looked pretty nice. Gotta love those cookie cutters. Now if I got my hands on that child.... ------------------ Joshua Harrison 1968 912 Coupe |

I have bought my 16 year old son a 912e and he loves it. I am teaching him how to drive and we are fixing the car up together. He is saving up to recover the seats and upgrade the sound system and I am looking after the maintenance. All he has to do is give his school work his #1 prority.Check out this link to see our car http://www.members.home.net/nicol4/porsche.htm

Please do not confuse the issue and blame the Jeep for a spoiled child and indulging parents.
I didn't get my first car until he was 23 and would have appreciated any car from my parents(Ford Pinto, Datsun B210). I think the child needs to be slapped for his ingrattitude and the parent should stop trying to compensate for his inadequacies by buying his childs affection. My first car was a 77 CJ5 and I love it for what it is, simple, sturdy, American. In essence, a Jeep. They are every bit as loved as our 912s. Before you think I am on the wrong websight I do love my 912. In fact, sometimes I drive it when I have no where to go. It makes me smile. I do miss my CJ5 though I don't miss a top speed of 58 mph. In all fairness don't blame the Jeep Ran |

Yeah, I remember the kids that were given cars by their parents back in high-school. They were mostly Vettes & Mustangs. The kids had no appreciation for what they were given and no respect for the cars. This 912 is lucky that the kid doesn't want it.
No disrespect to the father/son project. That would have been awsome! I was 19 when I bought my first car, a 76 VW diesel Rabbit, slow and smokey, it had 200,000 miles on it. At 34, with a young family, I feel very fortunate to own my yellow 912. Maybe that kid will grow up one day and give himself a good kick in the a** for turning the P-car down. Adam. The father/son project is a great idea and I did not mean to imply that it was. My dad tried that with me when I was a junior in high school. He had a 29 Ford Roadster, yellow with red flames. I wasn't interested. If I remember right I was too cool to work on a car. Talk about kicking myself. Fifteen years later and he offers either the 29 Ford or the 68 Porsche as a project vehicle and I took the Porsche.
