The guy who rebuilt my engine has a full flow system on his. Next time I see him I'll ask him.

It is not advisable to do this mod with out stripping the engine down. When drilling and tapping the case you will get swarf in the oilways and the need thoughly cleaning out.
If you choose to do the job the oil will need to come out of the case from the boss on the engine front cover just below the fuel pump. It needs to go back in through the boss to the left of the distributor. Then you will aslo need to blank off the oilway where the oil normaly exits the front cover and enters the main case by tapping the oilway M12 and fitting a grub screw. The oil filter bracket should be available from any proformance VW specialist. They should also have the fitting which should be 3/8 BSP. I am currently building a motor which has full flow oil filtration and could mail you some pics if that would help.
