Question Bosch Fuel Filters

Where can I buy some plastic see-thru Bosch fuel filters? I have tried Auto-Zone & Wal Mart but they don't carry them.

Thanks,
Ron D

Any Vdub shop should have them, I like to use the all metal Fram inline filters, no chance of leaking

Question Fram fuel filter

Whch model Fram fuel filter do you use?? I have seen them from 7/8" OD all the way up to 3" OD. How often do you change them??

I change mine once a year.

Thanks,

Craig:
Just read a very concerning opinion on using plastic fuel filters in the engine bay of VW (or 912).

If the filter case splits or cracks it will spray gas all ovet the hot engine. In addition if you have a plastic fuel filter between the fuel pump and the carbs it can come loose due to the pressure from the pump if you don't check it regularly.

Yikes.... metal fuel filters from now on!!!!!!

Thanks,
Ron

yea I know, engine fires have always been a problem with these engines VW etc. I put my filter before the pump so that there is not any pressure on it. and also have a fire bottle in the cabin. Whats nice about the 912 is that the forced air for the heater is taken right out of the engine compartment so if you get a leak you smell it RIGHT NOW even if you have your heat off.

Ron,

I use the fram version of these, about $1 at most parts stores and you can't tell the difference.
