I just bought a new 050 from Pelican - good price & quick shipment. 050 is the one most 356/912er's use if their stock distributors have died. The new one looks very stock, except the part number (small) stamped on the side.

The finish is gun metal clean. Kind of a slate gray. I don't know about paint on one but imagine a nice powder coat gray would look good.
