best cam for big bore rebuild and why???
 

i need people with direct experience and opinions on camshafts as i want the best one for my rebuild for the street, ocassional autocross, beat a honda to the next light type driving.....

That is the wrong kind of car for that kind of racing and a good way to break a very expensive crankshaft.Not trying to rain on your parade,but a honda isn't worth it.

Now, if you really wanted to woop some honda butt,save that engine on the side and build a Type 4 ,at say, about 2.2 liters,Web cam,8:5 CR and Webers.Try this web site

Don't get me wrong,I'd love a 912 engine myself(I don't have ANY engine yet)but talk about more bang for the buck,this is the hot ticket.For what it costs to build 912 engine

A California guy named Kurt seems to have solved the 912 lack of horsepower problem. Want to see under the lid of his '69 912?

That thing has too many wires coming out of the distributor, and what's with the tennis ball holders??

The Maestro will regrind your cam or he recommends the Elgin 266, says it has lots of torque and won't have a problem getting you to 6000 rpm. He also says don't go over 280 degress of duration, or you will have no torque.

Too many wires, tennis balls...maybe all true. But you have to admit, it would satisfy markdam's desire to beat a Honda to the next light.
