Post temp sender/wire/gauge

hello all,

upon turing on my ignition my temp. gauge heads all the way to the right and stays there...i figured it might be a short and grounded the green/black temp. sender wire against the engine block to check and the gauge pegged to the right again.

i replaced the temp. sender unit (hoping for an easy fix) but it didn't work. any ideas on where the short might be as well as where to get a decent wiring diagram...thanks in advance for the help...

Hello

remove the cable from the sender while ignition on. tip it against ground and the needle shoud peg. remove it from ground and the needle shout fall down ( not sure )

If this isn´t doing your cable or the instrument are bad, then chak the instrument with a new cable ( You can switch the idiot light cable )

Shemats are under the 911 tech section. Time to sneak around.

scott,

great wiring diagram...it should enable a number of projects this weekend, thanks a lot...

roland,

are you suggesting to just switch the wires (idiot light to temp sender)? it would be a great way to determine if the gauge is at fault...thanks

Hello

Yes they are very close on the engine and you can see the idiot light from the rear on the front you have acces trough the trunk or your MY has the pullable instruments ( big rubber visible behind the outher ring )

You can check your instrument and the wire with that.
