Post timing

I have a '66 912. What should the timing be at idle and at 3000 RPM?

Hi,
Try setting it at 30 to 32 degrees full advance. Idle setting isn't really as important as your full throttle setting.
If fuel is an issue and you ping sometimes, just back it off a little.
Regards, JMB...
